Wow! What a season! Record snowfall across much of the western United States at some points was TOO much snow, leading to resort closure...not a bad problem to have! Now that the snow has started to melt, the downside is being exposed. There has been quite a bit of runoff leading to trail erosion. As seen on our Philanthropy page, we are helping specific trails with adoption to provide funds for their preservation. On a volunteer note, like many, I have seen quite a bit of garbage that was buried for months. With streams flowing quickly due to the melt, collecting this trash is top priority to avoid it ending up in habitats where it does not belong and harming our environment and the animals that call these places home. These Alpreneur's aren't just having fun on the slopes, they're protecting our most important treasure, mother nature. Heading out for a hike, we're taking trash bags with us. In a 2 mile hike, I filled up almost an entire half trash bag! That might not seem like a lot, but when you think about how much this adds up if it's not removed, this could easily become the norm for our beautiful trails.
Stay tuned for details of our specific clean-up events and how hard these Alpreneur's are working to keep your favorite mountains in tip-top shape. Your generous support of Alpreneur is helping fund these activities with boots on the ground action. And it feels great! If you would like to support, grab an Alpreneur hat at the Gear link or feel free to make a donation (Alpreneur is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and any donations (hats not included) will recieve a tax deduction letter.) THANK YOU!
