A Call to Action
|
Something I didn't know before starting Alpreneur is any vacant land you see is intentional.
The trails we all love to hike either sit on federally protected land or are held in conservation easements. Land can also be held privately by individuals either for personal use (farming, a personal home) or for commercial use (a business, development, etc.) Earlier this summer, some of these vacant lands began to be threatened by the Big Beautiful Bill. The Senate's budget reconciliation bill initially included a provision to sell off millions of acres of public lands. |
|
Rightfully so, this sparked immense public outrage. The land being considered for sale were those federally-owned parcels, mainly in the western United States. Locals here in Utah were not only angry, but sad at the thought of our beautiful, wide open spaces being auctioned off to the highest bidder. Most could deduce that those lands would ultimately end up being flattened for more housing. "They paved paradise and put up a parking lot."
Social media can do lots of bad but it also can do a lot of good. Pretty soon, my feed was flooded with stories asking individuals to call their Congressional members. And it wasn't just friends that live out west...they were in North Carolina, Mississippi, New York...which reminded me that Alpreneur's are everywhere. Ultimately, the pressure worked. Was this Washington's plan all along? Who knows. But what I took from this moment in time was how everyone came together to protect the one thing we can never get back if we give it away. The moment those vacant lands are sold...they are gone. There is no going back. It has encouraged me to double down on the efforts behind Alpreneur. We have a new batch of hats coming in the next month. A new design, a new veteran-owned vendor local to Utah with the same mission. Proceeds from the hat sales will continue to support trail adoption alongside funding new conservation easements and defending existing. Thank you for your support! |
Adopt a Trail - Ontario Bypass
Many of you found Alpreneur through The Vintage Room at the St. Regis Deer Valley.
For those unfamiliar, Alpreneur formed a partnership during the winter to sponsor all gear for the biggest and best apres ski scene in Utah!
With the success of hat sales, we have now been able to adopt another trail through Mountain Trails. Alpreneur & the St. Regis Deer Valley have adopted
Ontario Bypass. Trail adoptions are 3-year commitments and funds pay for the restoration and preservation of the sponsored trail
We are incredibly grateful for the St. Regis Deer Valley and their support of our small, local non-profit. Be sure to check them out for your stay in Utah!

Save the Land
Alpreneur is partnering with the Summit Land Conservancy in their efforts to protect and preserve the natural space we all hold so dear. Vacant land, that is not zoned for commercial use, has generally been protected by an entity like this land conservancy. Land does not simply sit unused or preserved, it has been protected.
Without the land, there would be no trails.
With generous donations, Alpreneur has joined the For the Future Fund.
"For 20 years, the Summit Land Conservancy has saved unspoiled views, blue-ribbon fisheries, world-class trails, clean drinking water, local agriculture, and wildlife habitat that is important to our communities."
This campaign enables funds for the next 20 years and beyond.
Thank you, Summit Land Conservancy for your work. And thank you, Alpreneur's for your support.

Adopt a Trail - TG
With generous donations from our Alpreneur's, we have been able to adopt our first trail.
TG is located on Empire Mountain in Park City, Utah. Through non-profit, Mountain Trails Foundation, individuals and communities, like ours, are able to adopt beautiful trails. The annual donation (a 3-year commitment) provides funds for trail maintenance. This includes, but is not limited to, preserving animal habitats, clearing brush and ensuring the trails are in excellent condition to avoid erosion.
Alpreneur has be listed on the trailhead (which sits roadside to make it easy for all to enjoy!) I hope you will go bike, hike and enjoy this trail to see your donations paying off.
Further hat purchases will continue to fund annual maintenance alongside donations to other non-profits working to preserve, protect and restore mother nature.
Thank you!
